The “Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux” region produces red wines of good intensity. The styles we make respect this and consequently the wines have structure to match. Our production methods are aimed at the extraction of the fruit flavors and the soft tannins. We want some structure but prefer the wines to be not too tannic or over-extracted.

chateaucarsinredChâteau Carsin red is made mainly from Merlot variety. We like the richness and weight that this variety gives to the palate. It is backed up by the berry flavors of Malbec, herbal fruit characters of Cabernet Franc and sometimes with spiciness of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. The oak ageing makes the wine spicy with a soft tannin finish.

cuveenoireCuvée Noire red is made using a still higher percentage of Merlot. Cuvée Noire is made of specially selected grapes of all the red grape varieties that we produce: Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. The wine has rich and intense fruit flavors as well as aromas of earthiness, berries, leather and light smoke. This wine needs time to develop in bottle and will continue to improve for at least 5 – 8 years.

Cuvee 2008_150x150Cuvée Vintage, which has been produced in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2015 is our answer to the Bordeaux fine wine competition. The wine is a classic “Bordeaux Claret” in its style. It is usually mostly a combination of our most prestigious Merlot and Cabernet Franc with small amounts of our other varieties. This means very smooth mouth feel and deep intensive dark aromas. The wine is partially matured in new oak barrels to give potential for long ageing.

cuveepriveeCuvée Privée Red is produced only in the best and the ripest years. Quantities produced are relatively small: perhaps 2000 – 3000 bottles per annum. This wine is always based on Malbec which gives the wine structure as well as a full fruity mouth-feel. Some people say that the wine has some warm “New World” characters which are enhanced with relatively strong new oak ageing. Latest Cuvée Privées were produced in 2003 and 2007.
